Firefox, and Brock’s illiteracy

My shameless plug: Firefox 1.5 was officially released today. If you’re still using Internet Explorer, my humble opinion is that you should chuck it and check out Firefox.

Now, as for answering Brock’s comment on the football post: You can go to dictionary.com and look up words whenever you want. But who has time for that? So if you’re being lazy, a better option is to use a spell-check plugin. If you are using Firefox as your browser, you can download a plugin called Spellbound that will spell-check all the words in a text box (such as a blog comment posting text box). That way you can appear to spell intelligently not only when you comment on my blog, but also anywhere else you feel like being lazy. Here is how you can install Spellbound:
# Make sure you are using Firefox 1.5 (see above).
# Click here. It will open a new window to the Spellbound install site.
# Choose the radio button that says “Install Spellbound for Firefox 1.0+ (e.g. trunk etc.)
# Follow steps 1-4 in the “Firefox Trunk After The Deer Park Alpha 2 Release” box. Make sure you follow all four steps. Don’t get excited and try to use it before you have done all four steps. It won’t work. Don’t ask me how I know that.
# Congratulate yourself on entering blessed spell-checking utopia.

There you go, B. Don’t say I never did anything for ya. :)

firefox is fantastic.. I competely agree. my life was a veritable pile of steaming dung before I found that, but then perhaps I expatiate.

  3. Tristan says:

that’s right, my friends. you, too, can spell “expatiate”:http://dictionary.reference.com/wordoftheday/archive/2002/03/10.html correctly if you use firefox & spellbound. _and_ your life will no longer be a pile of steaming dung. more testimonials!

  4. Jared says:

I just wanted to say that with the help of Firefox, my portfolio has tripled in value, I’ve lost 40 lbs, and no longer crave nicotine. Thanks Tristan for the life changing, dung pile clean upping ability of Firefox!

Before Firefox I would just lay around in my Zubaz pants and eat pork rinds. I had no direction in life and I was quickly losing my family and friends. Then the Fox changed everything. After I installed the Fox, I finished my MBA in 6 weeks, married a beautiful young French translator, built three cars from scratch, swam the English Channel, did a tour on the PGA, and I even bought a house in the Hamptons! Thanks Firefox!

  6. aaron says:

hahah its 9 degrees where you live right now! :P

  7. Tristan says:

Yeah, you think you’re funny. Just ’cause Cali’s sunny. And my nose is runny.

  8. bdubs says:

Hey chief, I just wanted to congratulate both you and Sharon for making it through her first semester of grad school. She did a great job!

  9. Tristan says:

thanks, my friend. she’s definitely feeling more relaxed now. how about you? recovering? give me a call sometime and we’ll do coffee or something.

  10. bdubs says:

Sure thing, I am not done until tomorrow. One more paper to finish. Maybe I will see ya’ll at the party tomorrow? Coffee would be great — maybe this weekend?

Sorry, my bro. Christmastime for a music pastor is semi-controlled insanity. ;) I’ve been in the process of writing a meaty one. -T

  13. jbrock says:

Tristan, I am glad you brought up “meaty one’s” because I didn’t know we were talking about the females on your side of the family. That is one of my favorite topics.

How is the speeel check supposed to work? I am not getting much lovin’ from the spellbound.

I was released from jail and got to pass go and collect $200 dollars since I started using the Fox.

  14. Tristan says:

Dear JB – I’ve had meaty ones on my mind ever since your mom kept calling me last week.

As for the ‘speeel check’ – if you followed the instructions for installing spellbound, now you should be able to right-click in any text box in Firefox and see a “Check Spelling” option. For instance, if you’re typing a comment in my “leave comment” box below, you can just right-click and then left-click on “Check Spelling” in the little pop-up menu. -T
